Analytics overview

Analytics allow you to know for every announcement you published who is aligned and who is missing out. Analytics let you understand what percentage of your team has the right level of context and who has been left behind.

Sametab Analytics are based upon two simple user’s events views and reads.

Views

The View interaction is the most basic user event. It is triggered by a user when Sametab detects that he/she viewed an announcement.

Here are four scenarios that will trigger a view event:

  1. The user clicks on the announcement from their browser new tab

  2. The user opens the announcement from his Sametab’s Unread section from the Sametab web application

  3. The user receives an email nudge and opens the email from the Inbox

  4. The user (via Slack or Email) click on the announcement link

Sametab handles the complexity of these interactions for you and unifies them under a single metrics: Opened.

When you click on any specific announcement, the Opened percentage is the overal sum of all the view unique interactions that Sametab was able to count.

The view event is tracked by default on Sametab Announcements. You can’t deactivate it.

Reads

The Read event is the second and most important event in Sametab. It is triggered by a user when he explicitly marks an announcement as read.

While the View event is not intentional and it doesn’t require any specific behaviour from the user’s side, the Read event needs to be explicitly triggered. The Read event is tied to the Request for Read Acknowledge feature. That means that Sametab doesn’t automatically track Reads unless you explicitly say it.

A Read event is triggered only when the users explicitly acknowledge an announcement.

At this time Sametab provides two interfaces for users to acknowledge things: web application, and the Email Nudge.

Web application

When users see a new announcement from their browser’s new tab and they click it, they’ll be brought the announcement page. At the end of the announcement there’s a buttom that displays the Author Name folled by a Mark as Read button.

When the user clicks it, it’ll be shown a fingerprint icon and the date when he marked it as read.

Email nudge

Email Nudges are email reminders automatically sent to users if they didn’t mark important announcement as read. They aren’t enabled by default, see here how to enable them.

At the bottom of the Email Nudge, there’s a green “Mark this Announcement as Read”. When the users clicks it, he’ll be redirected to a simple page that gives him confirmation of the succesful action.

Even though he didn’t read the announcement from the traditional web application, nonehless he read it from the email. There’s no differen between an acknoledge done via Web App or via Email Nudges. Both of them will count against the total percentage of Acknowledgement of the announcement.

Tip! You’ll be able to track Reads only if you enabled the Request for Read Confirmation at the time you sent the announcement. Read more here on how to activate it.

Groups analytics

Do you have groups in your workspace? If so, you’ll see the See more.. button.

Click it to see in-depth groups-based analytics. Order by most and least aligned and see who are more likely to miss things out.

People analytics

People analytics allows you to have full visibility about who are the readers of your announcements.

Click the Recipient box to see exactly who read and when. The blue icon indicates you those who viewed the announcement, the green icons, those who marked it as read. They grey icons shows no activity on your content.

Click the See more.. button to filter by status or groups.

See who never opened or opened but didn't mark as read your announcements to see who are those that are losing context about what matters and help them get back on track.

Q&A

  1. Are analytics calculated in real time?

    Yes. The number we display in the analytics and recipients box are calculated in real-time.

  2. Is there a way to not track View events? No. View events (translated with the Opened indicator) are tracked by default. They can’t be deactivated at this time.

  3. Is there a way to not track Read events?

    Yes. All you have to do is just disable the Request for Acknowledge confirmation. See this section to learn how to disable it.

  4. Can I make analytics open to the team?

    No, this is not available at this time, but we’re considering it.
